STRINGS
The String Department at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts is a welcoming environment that produces award-winning performances and outstanding musicians.
For 30 years, String students have showcased their talents at the highest levels in large ensembles, chamber ensembles, as soloists, in school musicals, and in the Dance department's production of the Nutcracker.
Carter String students have volunteered as mentors for elementary students in the TCDSB Youth Orchestra, and have performed at many outreach events in the community and at elementary schools in the TCDSB.
During COVID there has been an incredible output of creativity from String Students in the form of Virtual Ensembles and Composition.
Senior Strings' “Greensleeves” virtual performance received 100% in the 2021 Virtual Kiwanis Festival this year. Two of our grade 9 Students won 1st place and Platinum for their composition "Saudade" in the Kiwanis Virtual Festival 2021 which will also be featured in the Carter Creates Festival! Our grade 11 chamber group, The Major 6, were finalists in CBC Music Class 2020 and won 1st place in their category at Kiwanis 2021. All of our dedicated String students have collectively made the String program a positive place like no other!
